From the 5th century, Flokatis were
created by the nomads from the mountains of Northern Greece. Flokatis
were and are an essential part of every bridal dowry, conventional Greek
home furnishing and family heirloom. Apart from being a status symbol
for every family, Flokatis are practical. They keep the house very warm
through the cold winter months and are sometimes referred to as "shepherds'
rugs", with each individual Flokati bearing its own mystical soul
passed on from each personal creator of the Flokati.
